URDA Continues Its Relief Efforts Amid Lebanon’s Worsening Humanitarian Crisis

More than 3,600 displaced individuals benefit from URDA’s services across various regions of Lebanon.

URDA continues its intensive humanitarian efforts to support displaced people in Lebanon by distributing essential aid through 17 shelter centers. These centers, spread across areas including Saida, Iqlim (Chhime and Sibline), Beqaa, Arsal, Akkar, Tripoli, Beirut, Naameh, and Aramoun, have so far accommodated over 723 families.

As of October 4, 2024, URDA has provided various services, including 1,728 ready-to-eat food parcels, 746 food rations, 3,140 hot meals, and 2,551 bundles of bread. In addition, 1,940 mattresses, 2,185 blankets, and 1,559 pillows were distributed to the displaced, alongside the operation of five mobile clinics to provide healthcare services.

 

URDA has also ensured the basic needs of children by distributing 458 cans of baby formula and 466 packs of diapers, as well as providing 854 hygiene kits and organizing 325 children’s activities.

Furthermore, 300 breakfast meals and 1,600 boxes of medicine were distributed, along with 1,500,000 liters of service water and 1,941 gallons of drinking water (10 liters per gallon).

 

 

 

It is noteworthy that Lebanese authorities announced that the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen  2,011 martyrs and 9,500 injured since the escalation began on October 8, 2024. The airstrikes have targeted various areas across Lebanon, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis as the number of displaced people has surged to approximately 1.2 million, with 160,200 living in temporary shelters.

 

 

In a related context, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported the deaths of over 100 children since the escalation began. UNICEF estimated that 300,000 children have been displaced from their homes and are suffering from a severe shortage of basic resources.
