The Kuwaitiyi School Shelter in Saida, managed by the Union of Relief and Development Associations in Lebanon (URDA), hosted a special humanitarian activity on the first day of Eid. The event was attended by Minister of Social Affairs Hanin
El-Sayed and the Mayor of Saida, Engineer Mustafa Hijazi, along with URDA team and displaced families residing in the shelter.
The visit included a field tour of the center’s sections, where the Minister reviewed the conditions of displaced Lebanese families and the services provided to them. She praised URDA’s efforts in managing the center and securing basic needs despite the difficult field challenges.
For his part, Mayor Mustafa Hijazi commended URDA’s role, affirming in his speech that its swift intervention and effective organization directly contributed to improving the living conditions of the displaced inside the center. He added:
“We highly value this partnership, and we look forward to continuing joint coordination to ensure the best possible support for those in need during this critical stage.”
Meanwhile, URDA’s Executive Director, Jihan Kaisi, emphasized that Eid in the shelter centers carries a special humanitarian message, underscoring that “No child should be sad today, despite the bombardment and despite the rain.” She pointed to a series of recreational activities and surprises designed to bring joy to the hearts of children and families.
The event included entertainment activities and the distribution of gifts to children, aiming to ease the impact of displacement and the difficult living conditions, while reviving the festive spirit of Eid in an atmosphere of solidarity and compassion.
