URDA Welcomes 300 Displaced Families at the Lebanese-Kuwaiti School in Saida and Provides Urgent Humanitarian Support

In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, the Union of Relief and Development Associations (URDA) has opened a shelter center at the Lebanese-Kuwaiti School in Saida to host displaced families. To date, 300 families have been received, amid urgent efforts to provide them with essential humanitarian support in full coordination with local authorities, led by the Municipality of Saida.

URDA confirmed that the opening of the center came as part of the emergency response mechanism activated following the surge in displacement due to recent events across various Lebanese regions, leaving civilians facing an unprecedented situation where no safe place remains in the country.

The response included the provision of basic shelter materials such as mattresses and blankets, along with food parcels, drinking water, hygiene supplies, and initial psychosocial support sessions for children to help them cope with the trauma of displacement and the loss of daily routine.

This initiative falls under URDA’s “Our Lebanon” campaign, launched to expand humanitarian support across Lebanon’s governorates, with a focus on meeting the urgent needs of displaced families and supporting children and the most vulnerable groups psychologically and socially.

URDA calls on international donors and humanitarian partners to provide urgent and flexible funding to sustain the operation of shelter centers, supply food and shelter materials, and deliver psychosocial support for children and women. The organization stressed that today’s rapid response is an investment in the stability of Lebanese society and its resilience in the face of crises.
