The Union of Relief and Development Associations in Lebanon (URDA) launched the first workshop under the project “Empowering Border Areas through Social Cohesion and Capacity Building”, in collaboration with ALEF and Weam (Weam Organization), and funded by the European Union (EU). 
The opening workshop was held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the public hall of Al-Hebbarieh in South Lebanon, with the participation of 69 young men and women aged between 16 and 26, representing 11 villages across the Hasbaya and Marjeyoun districts.
The event began with an introductory session, during which the URDA team welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the project, its objectives, and the upcoming activities designed to enhance youth skills and enable them to actively engage in their communities and border areas.
The program included a capacity-building workshop led by trainer Riad Issa, focusing on essential skills in volunteering and effective communication, aiming to encourage youth to play a positive and active role within their communities.
The workshop was also attended by Mayor of Al-Hebbarieh, Mr. Mohammad Abou Asali, who welcomed the participants, expressed his appreciation for their involvement, and thanked the supporting authorities and URDA for their continued efforts to empower the youth in the region.

This workshop marks the , aimed at promoting social cohesion, strengthening community resilience, and equipping youth with the tools necessary to drive positive change in their villages.
