Youth Dialogue Session in Hebbarieh under the Theme “Arts, Culture, and Traditions” within the EU-Funded Border Areas Empowerment Project

The Union of Relief and Development Associations in Lebanon (URDA) held the second workshop under the project “Empowering Border Areas through Social Cohesion and Capacity Building”, in collaboration with ALEF and Weam (Weam Organization) and (PASC),funded by the European Union (EU).

The workshop took place on Sunday, December 14, 2025, over two hours at the Roman Archaeological Temple in Al-Hebbarieh, South Lebanon, with the participation of more than 30 young men and women from over 10 villages across the Hasbaya and Marjeyoun districts. The session was held in the presence of writer and playwright Mr. Samir Mansour, who contributed to the discussions and activities.

The session featured an interactive discussion on cultural diversity among the participating villages, where attendees explored points of cultural differences and convergence, and discussed how history, geography, and social environment have shaped customs and traditions passed down through generations.

Participants also addressed the concept of arts, examining the origins of folk and heritage arts in the region, their role in expressing cultural identity and daily life, and the importance of preserving and passing them on to future generations.

The session provided a rich space for exchange of ideas and experiences among youth, contributing to the promotion of belonging, cultural diversity, and constructive dialogue, in a historic site that embodies the region’s deep cultural and historical heritage.

This  aimed at enhancing social cohesion, strengthening community resilience, and equipping youth with the tools to drive positive change in their villages.
