“My suffering to treat my children and secure our living expenses started when my husband died.
I live in a damp and dark room with two children who suffer from a rare disease called Ataxia, and I am currently drowning in debts because of their treatment expenses. I have to cut back on costs of many daily expenses to an extent I could not enroll my children in schools as I cannot stop their treatment. I am forced to live in this room because it’s close to the hospital in cases of emergencies and the owner of the house waits for me for several months to be able to pay the rent.”
This is how Khadija began her story when URDA assessed the family’s situation through a holistic approach to help them overcome their difficult circumstances and ensure a decent life for the mother and her children.
