URDA’s protection sector, in collaboration with the Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP), organized an awareness lecture on workers’ rights last week in the border town of Aarsal while taking all preventive measures and social distancing precautions to reduce the spread of the COVID-19.
The lecture aimed to educate 39 workers of all nationalities and enhance their knowledge of their rights. It also addressed a number of key points, the most important of which was the system of protecting wages, arbitrary dismissal, and the rights of day workers, in addition to laws limiting the exploitation and overloading of workers.
This initiative is part of the legal protection program’s keenness to establish basic human rights concepts and to contribute to the application of best practices that preserve individual’s dignity which have a positive impact on social cohesion.
