After receiving the ECOSOC membership, URDA, represented by its executive director Jihan Kaisi, participated in a high-level meeting on universal health coverage attended by more than 158 countries participated in this meeting, including representatives of the Member States, observers of the General Assembly, ambassadors, parliament representatives, etc.
This meeting, which is held under the theme “Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World,” aims to expedite progress toward universal health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all.
Our representative in New York commented on this event: “It is a good opportunity for us at the humanitarian field to discuss universal access to health worldwide, since a big number of patients in Lebanon don’t have access to health services, and they suffer a great deal to get the needed medical treatment due to financial hardships. Although URDA implements numerous medical projects in Lebanon, the need is still bigger than what’s being covered”.
