In the presence of His Excellency the Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, Mr. “Magoshi Masayuki,” and with funding from the Japanese Embassy in Lebanon, the Union of Relief and Development Associations (URDA) celebrated today, July 25, 2023, the launch of a project that enhances healthcare services in the Central Bekaa. A clinic has been equipped to serve the areas of Faour and Bar Elias and the surrounding regions with advanced medical equipment, including the Ultrasound and Panoramic Machine.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a delegation from the Japanese Embassy, as well as social, cultural, and educational figures, in addition to the clinic’s staff and a gathering of attendees led by the Vice Chairman of the URDA Board of Directors, Mr. Abdul Rahman Darwish, and URDA’s Executive Director, Ms. Jihan Al-Qaisi.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Japan and Lebanon, followed by a speech by URDA’s Executive Director, Ms. Jihan Al-Qaisi, who emphasized that this project significantly enhances the diagnostic and medical treatment capabilities in the region. It will contribute to improving the quality of healthcare and better meeting the needs of over 1000 patients monthly. She expressed her hope that the cooperation between URDA and the Japanese Embassy continues for the greater good.
Al-Qaisi also stressed that accessing healthcare is becoming increasingly challenging in Lebanon and is gradually becoming a barrier to achieving local health security, especially in remote and marginalized areas. She extended heartfelt thanks to Japan, its government, and its people for this exceptional support and vital role.
The Japanese Ambassador, Mr. “Magoshi,” delivered a speech in which he reiterated Japan’s commitment to supporting the healthcare sector in Lebanon. He praised URDA’s qualitative initiatives and projects on all levels, especially considering the growing need for primary healthcare in the Bekaa and the region.
At the end of the ceremony, the attendees took a tour of the clinic and familiarized themselves with its main facilities.
