Relief, Shelter and Sponsorship Midterm Report

We’ve prepared this brief report about our achievements in the Relief, Shelter and Sponsorship Sectors.

The shelter sector was one of the programs that began operating immediately after the establishment of the Union of Relief and Development Associations (URDA). Today it is recognized by various international organizations and donors due to its role and importance in providing shelter to 25,000 Syrian refugees throughout Lebanon, distributed among 35 centers that include about 5,000 housing units, in Aarsal, Bekaa, Akkar, Saida, Shebaa, Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

This sector aims at ensuring dignified shelter for refugees and underprivileged people that can guarantee their safety and protection from the freezing cold of winter and the scorching heat of summer. It also provides shelters with necessary infrastructures such as shelter centers, prefabricated houses, and residential complexes. The functions of the shelter sector include the establishment, processing,  and management of shelters in addition to the maintenance of its needs and supplies.

The relief sector aims at providing refugees and deprived Lebanese families with basic assistance, including both food and non-food items, to guarantee them basic and dignified living conditions. The services include the rapid response in emergencies, such as storms, disasters, and conflicts, to preserve people’s lives and mitigate the damage as much as possible.

Within this sector, 578,707 services were provided to 769,971 beneficiaries among refugees and disadvantaged people in 2018. Moreover, 82,367,988 liters of water were distributed, in addition to 1,233 water and sanitation services.
