URDA’s New Basamat Center in Akkar Funded by AMA

URDA’s Protection Sector is preparing to open a  new Basamat Center for psychosocial support in Akkar, North Lebanon, with the support of the Africa Muslims Agency. The center will be targeting around 400 boys and girls of Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian nationalities for the rest of the year where it will offer several services to children and their caregivers.

One of the most important techniques that will be used by the Basamat team during its treatment services is cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodrama, as well as therapeutic storytelling and both art and laughter therapies.

It is worth noting that the targeted children were chosen for reasons related to their psychological traumas, sexual and physical abuse, and health problems which affect their daily lives and thus are bullied by their surrounding environment.
